A free, walk-in cooking experience arrives at Truman Brewery, blending speed, flavour and a chance to win big.
There are certain moments in London when the city quietly offers something genuinely useful, something that doesn’t ask too much but gives a lot back. This is one of them.
For five days only this May, Thermomix is opening the doors to its Drop In Kitchen, a free, open-to-all cooking experience set within the industrial bones of East London’s Truman Brewery. No tickets required, no long lead times, just a simple invitation to step in, cook, taste and leave with something new.
It feels refreshingly straightforward, especially in a city where “experiences” often come layered with complexity. Here, the premise is clear: show up, get hands-on, and see what modern cooking can look like when it’s stripped back to efficiency and elevated through design.
A Kitchen That Works at Your Pace

Set inside Dray Walk Gallery in Ely’s Yard, the Drop In Kitchen is designed around flexibility. You can arrive when it suits you, settle in, and experience Thermomix in action without committing to a full-day workshop or rigid schedule.
Sessions run daily from Wednesday 6th to Sunday 10th May, with opening times split between 12–3pm and 4:30–7pm, making it easy to slot into a lunch break, an after-work wander or a weekend plan in Shoreditch.
The concept leans into accessibility, but without losing that sense of intention. This isn’t a passive demo. It’s interactive, tactile and quietly immersive, giving you the space to understand how the machine works in real time.
The Joy of Cooking, Reframed

At its core, Thermomix has always been about simplifying the process without compromising the result. The Drop In Kitchen brings that philosophy to life.
Expect flavour-led dishes prepared in under 30 minutes, built around the idea that good food doesn’t need to be time-consuming to feel considered. It’s a subtle but important shift, especially in a city where time is often the limiting factor.
There’s also something inherently satisfying about seeing everything come together in one place. Chopping, blending, cooking, all streamlined into a single flow. It’s less about spectacle and more about clarity, about showing how cooking can fit into everyday life without becoming a chore.
A Space That Feels East London
The choice of Truman Brewery feels deliberate. There’s a certain texture to that part of East London, where creativity, food and culture intersect without trying too hard.
Ely’s Yard, with its open, slightly raw aesthetic, gives the experience a grounded edge. It avoids the overly polished feel that can sometimes come with brand-led events, instead sitting comfortably within its surroundings.
You can easily imagine making a day of it. A wander through Shoreditch, a stop at the Drop In Kitchen, maybe something slow and indulgent afterwards. It folds into the rhythm of the area rather than interrupting it.
More Than Just a Cooking Session

Beyond the food itself, there’s an added layer that gives the event a little more weight.
Visitors will have the chance to win a Thermomix TM7, a detail that shifts the experience from something purely observational into something with a tangible takeaway. It’s not the reason to go, but it’s a compelling bonus.
There’s also the option to book a slot in advance for those who prefer a bit more structure, though the beauty of the concept lies in its openness. You don’t need to plan too far ahead. You just need to turn up.
Why It’s Worth Dropping In
London is full of things to do, but fewer that feel both easy and worthwhile.
The Thermomix Drop In Kitchen sits comfortably in that space. It offers something practical without feeling transactional, something engaging without being overwhelming.
Whether you’re curious about the product, looking for a midweek reset, or simply want to spend an hour doing something different, it works.
And in a city that moves quickly, that kind of simplicity carries its own appeal.
