Riding House Café Fitzrovia Review: A London Favourite Celebrates 15 Years

Riding House Café has long been one of London’s most popular neighbourhood restaurants, known for its lively atmosphere, inventive cocktails and modern European menu just minutes from Oxford Circus. While the restaurant first made its name as one of London’s go to brunch destinations, dinner reveals a different side  a vibrant evening dining experience that feels equally suited to date nights, catch-ups with friends and relaxed meals after exploring the West End.

Tucked away on Great Titchfield Street, the original Fitzrovia restaurant has been a fixture of London’s dining scene since opening in 2011. This summer, Riding House Café celebrates 15 years with a special anniversary menu bringing back some of the dishes that have helped define the restaurant over the years, alongside new seasonal additions.

The milestone feels fitting for a restaurant that played a key role in shaping London’s modern brunch culture. Over the past decade and a half, Riding House Café has become the kind of place Londoners return to time and again — whether for long breakfasts, leisurely lunches, after-work drinks or lively evening dinners.

Interiors

Riding House Café

The restaurant strikes the perfect balance between relaxed neighbourhood dining and contemporary London sophistication. Inside, soaring ceilings, exposed brickwork, industrial-inspired details and warm lighting create a space that feels stylish without losing its welcoming character.

The open kitchen brings energy to the dining room, while the bustling atmosphere reflects the personality of Fitzrovia itself. Despite being consistently busy throughout the evening, Riding House Café never feels overwhelming. It works just as well for an intimate dinner as it does for group celebrations, business meetings or spontaneous drinks at the bar.

The Food

Dinner at Riding House Café centres around modern European cooking with global influences, combining seasonal ingredients with comforting, flavour-driven dishes designed for sharing.

To celebrate 15 years of the restaurant, Executive Chef Henry Omereye has brought back a selection of much loved favourites alongside new summer additions. Returning dishes include Three Cheese Croquettes with pickled cucumber, Confit Pork Belly with cumin salt and XO sauce, and the iconic Kedgeree with flaked smoked haddock and poached egg  a dish that perfectly captures the restaurant’s brunch heritage.

Other highlights include the Superfood Salad with bulgur wheat, squash, alfalfa and seeds, offering a lighter option, alongside the new Roast Lamb with sticky baked rice and yellow peppers, bringing a more indulgent seasonal touch to the menu. The anniversary dishes sit alongside Riding House Café classics, continuing its signature approach of offering something for every occasion  from relaxed daytime dining to more substantial evening plates.

Dessert remains a highlight, with the returning Hot Fudge Sundae with honeycomb, vanilla and chocolate ice cream providing a nostalgic finish that feels perfectly in keeping with the restaurant’s playful approach.

Drinks

Riding House Café has always placed cocktails at the centre of its offering, and the bar remains one of the restaurant’s biggest strengths. The menu combines timeless classics with creative house serves, with each drink carefully balanced and designed to complement the food.

The wine list also offers plenty of choice, featuring bottles from both established and emerging regions. The knowledgeable team are always on hand to recommend pairings, making the drinks experience feel as considered as the food.

Service and Atmosphere

Service throughout the evening is warm, attentive and relaxed. Despite the restaurant’s popularity, the team maintains a genuine sense of hospitality, creating an experience that feels polished without becoming formal.

The pace of the evening is well judged, with dishes arriving comfortably and allowing guests to settle in and enjoy the atmosphere. As the night progresses, the dining room becomes increasingly lively, capturing the energy that has made Riding House Café such an enduring London favourite.

Why Riding House Café Remains a Fitzrovia Favourite

The restaurant’s biggest strength is its consistency. Rather than relying on one signature dish or passing trend, Riding House Café has built its reputation on creating an experience that works throughout the day and across different occasions. With its location close to Oxford Circus, Soho and Regent Street, it is also perfectly positioned for pre-theatre dinners, post-shopping meals and evenings exploring the West End.

Although Riding House Café may have become famous for brunch, its evening offering proves why it has remained one of Fitzrovia’s most loved restaurants for 15 years. The combination of stylish surroundings, seasonal cooking, creative cocktails and warm service creates a dining experience that feels both polished and familiar.

Whether you’re visiting for a special occasion, a relaxed dinner with friends or simply looking for one of the best restaurants near Oxford Circus, Riding House Café continues to deliver the kind of dependable London dining experience that keeps guests coming back.
