TONE’s 5 Places to Eat This Week: 10th August

London is leaning into the last stretch of summer with plenty of new reasons to eat out. This week brings Italian-style Sunday mornings to Queen’s Park, a new Indian tasting menu in Mayfair and two very different takes on afternoon tea. Over in Canary Wharf, there’s also a new waterside opening made for working your way through a glass or two of wine. Here are TONE’s five places to have on your radar this week in August.

1. Casa Felicia, Queen’s Park

The Lowdown: Sunday mornings are getting an Italian makeover at Casa Felicia with the launch of Colazione da Casa Felicia, a new weekly breakfast inspired by the rituals of Southern Italy. Served every Sunday from 9am until 11.30am, it’s an easy-going affair built around good coffee, freshly baked pastries and the kind of breakfast that deserves to be taken slowly.

Sweet options include cornetti filled with pistachio, Nutella or crema amarena, alongside toast with visciole jam, house granola and seasonal fruit. Those after something more substantial can order eggs with courgette, mint and basil, a salted croissant filled with mortadella, salsa tonnata and lettuce, or the Bikini Sandwich with Pancetta Giovanna, scamorza and basil mayo.

Naturally, coffee plays a starring role, but there’s also Amalfi limonata, Sicilian orange juice and house smoothies. Take a seat on the terrace or stop by the counter for takeaway and consider the Sunday morning coffee run officially upgraded.

2. Trèsind, Mayfair

The Lowdown: Mayfair’s Trèsind is offering a new way into its contemporary take on Indian fine dining. From 10th August, the restaurant is introducing a five-course tasting menu, a shorter alternative to its signature eight-course journey through India’s regional cuisines.

Executive Chef Amit Bagyal draws on dishes, ingredients and techniques from across the country, taking familiar ideas in unexpected directions. The full tasting experience moves from a savoury take on Rajasthan’s ghewar to a Kashmiri mushroom ‘chai’, before travelling south and east with dishes including Alleppey fish curry with coconut milk and raw mango and Bengali kosha mangsho served with sweet pea kachuri.

Trèsind comes from the team behind Dubai’s three Michelin-starred Trèsind Studio, but its London identity is very much its own. Bagyal’s menu is informed by his years travelling across India as well as his experience in some of London’s best-known Indian kitchens. For those yet to visit, the arrival of the new five-course menu makes this a particularly good week to discover it.

3. Aki London, Marylebone

The Lowdown: Afternoon tea looks a little different at Aki London this summer. The Marylebone Japanese restaurant has teamed up with tastemaker Milly Kenny-Ryder for a playful reinterpretation of the British tradition, swapping some of the usual classics for Japanese flavours and techniques.

Traditional scones make way for fluffy dorayaki pancakes served with cream and jam, while the savoury selection includes Japanese sandos filled with chicken katsu and tonkatsu Dijon mayo, green tea-smoked salmon with yuzu curd and golden egg yolk with summer truffle.

The sweet side is equally tempting, with yuzu and citrus tea cake, pistachio and raspberry tart and milk chocolate and black sesame mousse, followed by matcha madeleines to take home.

Served in Aki’s striking One Cavendish Square dining room and out on the summer terrace, it’s a polished alternative to the more traditional hotel afternoon tea.

Price: £49.50 per person or £70 with Champagne

Available: Sunday to Thursday, 3pm to 5.30pm

4. Vagabond Wines, Canary Wharf

The Lowdown: Canary Wharf has a new waterside drinking and dining spot with the arrival of Vagabond Wines in Wood Wharf. The 6,000 sq. ft venue spans two floors and serves more than 120 wines by the glass, alongside modern European plates designed for sharing.

Vagabond’s self-pour machines mean guests can opt for a tasting measure, half glass or full pour, making it particularly good for anyone who would rather explore several bottles than settle on one. The collection covers everything from classic reds and crisp whites to orange, organic and low-intervention wines, including releases made at Vagabond’s own Urban Winery in Canada Water, just 1,300 metres away.

Food comes courtesy of Executive Chef Marco Pastoris, with burrata di Puglia, pil pil prawns, Iberico croquetas, pork belly, padrón peppers and hanger steak tagliata among the dishes on offer, alongside charcuterie and cheese boards.

Add a heated terrace overlooking the water and this feels equally suited to a long lunch, after-work wine or an evening spent putting the self-pour machines to good use.

5. The Adria, South Kensington

August

The Lowdown: There’s another reason to indulge in afternoon tea this week, this time with a distinctly nostalgic twist. From 10th August, The Adria in South Kensington is serving a limited-edition Woodland Afternoon Tea created to mark the centenary of A. A. Milne’s much-loved literary works.

Taking inspiration from the Hundred Acre Wood and the English countryside, the menu brings a little whimsy to the five-star townhouse hotel without losing the polish expected from a South Kensington afternoon tea.

Savouries include Clarence Court egg with truffle mayonnaise and fresh chives on brioche, alongside Forman’s smoked salmon with crème fraîche, dill and Avruga caviar. The woodland theme really comes through in the patisserie, from a honey and orange honeycomb cake layered with honey crémeux and orange preserve to The Little Woodland Bee, a baked honey cheesecake with mango and white chocolate crunch. There’s also a wild berry woodland macaron filled with berry ganache and compote.

The timing is particularly good for Afternoon Tea Week. Guests booking the Woodland Afternoon Tea between 10th and 31st August will receive a complimentary glass of Champagne or sparkling tea. Vegan and gluten-free menus are also available with 24 hours’ notice.

Price: From £55 per person

Available: From 10th August until late November 2026

Location: 88 Queen’s Gate, South Kensington, London SW7 5AB

Whether it’s coffee and cornetti on a Sunday morning, a tasting menu that travels across India or an afternoon spent over Champagne and patisserie, this week’s selection offers five very different ways to eat your way around London. With several new menus and openings landing just in time for August, there’s plenty worth adding to the diary before summer slips away.
