Malaysia Airlines Wins Seven Awards at Cellars in the Sky 2026 for Its Luxury Wine Experience

Malaysia Airlines has been recognised among the world’s leading airlines for its exceptional wine programme, taking home seven awards at the prestigious Cellars in the Sky Awards 2026 — including two Gold accolades for its Business Class Lounge Wine Cellar and Business Class Lounge Red Wine selection.

For travellers who see the journey as much as the destination, Malaysia Airlines is proving that luxury begins long before take-off. The national carrier of Malaysia has been celebrated for its outstanding wine offering at the 2026 Cellars in the Sky Awards, reinforcing its commitment to delivering a premium hospitality experience both on the ground and in the air.

The airline secured seven awards across multiple categories, including two Gold awards for its Business Class Lounge Wine Cellar and Business Class Lounge Red Wine – Château Larteau, Bordeaux Supérieur 2022.

The recognition highlights Malaysia Airlines’ continued focus on elevating the passenger experience through exceptional dining, carefully curated beverages and its signature Malaysian Hospitality.

A Premium Lounge Experience at Kuala Lumpur International Airport

At the heart of Malaysia Airlines’ award-winning experience is the Golden Lounge at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) — a sophisticated space designed to offer travellers comfort, relaxation and a taste of Malaysian hospitality before their flight.

The lounge combines elegant surroundings with an impressive culinary offering, featuring authentic Malaysian dishes, the signature Live Noodle Station, international buffet selections and an array of desserts.

The award-winning wine collection complements the dining experience, allowing guests to enjoy carefully selected wines while preparing for their journey.

Celebrating Excellence in Airline Hospitality

The Cellars in the Sky Awards are among the aviation industry’s most respected wine competitions, with all wines judged blind by an independent panel of internationally recognised experts.

This year’s judging panel included wine specialists Charles Metcalfe, Sam Caporn MW, Peter McCombie MW and John Worontschak, alongside industry consultant Kelly Stevenson.

Each entry was assessed purely on its own qualities, with judges evaluating appearance, aroma, flavour, balance, complexity, length and overall quality — without knowledge of the airline, producer or price point.

The recognition reflects Malaysia Airlines’ ongoing commitment to creating memorable journeys through exceptional service, thoughtful details and world-class hospitality.
