Lloyds Bank and Six by Nico: First Time Buyer Dining Experience

First time buyer? Lloyds Bank is taking an unexpected route to explain the homebuying process, partnering with Six by Nico to launch the UK’s first home buying tasting menu.

The Journey Home is a one day only, six course dining experience designed to walk aspiring homeowners through the key milestones of buying their first property. It will take place in London, Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham, with free tickets available via online sign up.

Gen Z Homeownership Dreams Meet Reality

New research from Lloyds Bank reveals that 94 percent of Gen Z dream of owning their own home. However, confidence in achieving that goal remains low.

Nearly three in ten, 29 percent, believe they are more likely to win the lottery than buy their first home. Meanwhile, 21 percent think they are more likely to become TikTok famous, and 13 percent say they would expect to see Jeremy Clarkson become Prime Minister before stepping onto the property ladder.

Saving for a deposit is the biggest barrier, cited by 22 percent of respondents. On average, Gen Z has already saved £11,095 towards a deposit, with 37 percent taking on a side hustle and 34 percent cutting back on takeaways to boost their funds. The challenge is particularly stark in London, where the average deposit stands at £118,990 according to Lloyds data.

Understanding the process is another hurdle. Four in ten admit they do not fully understand the steps involved in buying a home. Mortgage terminology such as Loan to Value, which refers to the percentage of a property’s value that is borrowed, confuses 81 percent of respondents.

Almost two thirds, 65 percent, say they discuss their homebuying dreams over dinner, and 23 percent believe they would feel ready to buy sooner if the process came with clearer guidance.

The UK’s First Home Buying Tasting Menu

Enter The Journey Home. In collaboration with Six by Nico, Lloyds has created a limited edition six course menu inspired by the emotional and practical milestones of buying your first home. Each course represents a different stage of the journey, from dreaming about your ideal property to receiving the keys. The concept blends storytelling with practical insight, offering diners a more approachable way to understand the homebuying process. The experience will run for one day only across four cities, giving aspiring buyers the chance to explore the steps involved in purchasing a property in a relaxed, engaging setting.

Why It Matters

Kate Townson, Mortgage Director at Lloyds, says many first time buyers simply do not know where to start. By bringing the conversation into a familiar social setting, Lloyds hopes to make the process feel less intimidating and more achievable.

Nico Simeone, founder of Six by Nico, adds that the brand has always focused on telling stories through food. This menu translates the emotional highs and challenges of buying a home into a unique dining experience designed to turn aspiration into action.

How to Book

The Journey Home dining events will take place in London, Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham. Attendance is free for aspiring homeowners, with places available via online here. For those unable to attend, Lloyds also offers guidance and tools through its First Time Buyer hub, providing practical information on mortgages, deposits and navigating the property market.

Final Verdict

If you are a first time buyer feeling overwhelmed by deposits, mortgage jargon and rising house prices, The Journey Home offers a fresh and accessible way to understand the property ladder.

By combining food, storytelling and financial education, Lloyds Bank and Six by Nico have created one of the most original first time buyer events of 2026.
